It appears that the bloggarific community are a rather supportive bunch and they give each other awards willy nilly.
It doesn’t mean anything in the real world, you don’t win anything you could flog at a hock shop once your star fades, but you do get a whacking great sense of satisfaction because someone other than your Mum thinks you’re the ducks nuts.
I have had the good fortune of having two such awards bestowed upon me in the past month, so I thought I’d blow my trumpet a little so you all realise how
fabulous lucky I am.
I have been awarded the Liebster Award and the One Lovely Blog Award.
Here is what I won.
Two pictures. But before you get all ‘where’s your fricken’ trophy’ about it, I’m bloody chuffed.
These awards are given by bloggers, to bloggers. Each one has slightly different rules but you basically pay it forward. You thank the person who gave it, and you give it to people. It’s like a little blogging swingers party.
The German translation for lieb is along the lines of love (give or take a little poetic licence) and my very first award was the Liebster Award. I received this award a couple of weeks ago from the lovely Bulldog and Baby. Tiara Blue and her little family packed up their cabin and made their home in an RV. Yep, she’s trailer trash, peeps, but her heartwarming tales of their adventures make me want to pack up the troops and hit the open road. TB has a great sense of humour and a really lovely writing style, in a former life she was a journo and she’s now an aspiring author.
So, firstly, I would love to thank her for my first bit of recognition. I love comments, and I really love awards. I was going to use my pre-prepared speech that I’ve had for the Academy since my acting days but I decided it may be a little Gwyneth for this medium.
Now, I have to nominate 5 peeps, with under 200 followers (I have no idea how many each has) for the award and here’s where a gotta come clean and admit that I’m absolutely flat out writing my own blog so I haven’t really been following many blogs. I’m sharing all the ones I do read and splitting over the two awards so it looks like I read more than I do……
George. Jessie. Love.
Julie is a beautiful, honest mother who is raising two beautiful children. Harrison is her 17 year old son, and Jessie. Jessie is 10. She is bright, cute and brave. Jessie was born a boy, named George. Although the family knew George was different, 7 months ago he dropped the bomb that he was a girl. This blog is insightful, and inspiringly honest as this loving family navigate something that has no map – the journey of a transgender child.
Clever writing….she’s a teacher and a writer with a great sense of humour. Not like the teachers I remember (except for my Favorite Aunty Carol). She blogs about writing, as well as writing her own rumination so it’s interesting for someone who aspires to write betterer.
Boring Random Facts About Me.
- I’m a distant member of Portuguese royalty. Next time I’m being a princess, you may call me Your Highness.
- I once slept under a full moon in the desert, up near the Pakistan border in India. It was cold and my camel, Johnny Walker, snored. Terrible night’s sleep, awesome memory.
- My little toes do not touch the ground and are like strange little nubbins that hang onto the side of my feet.
- I love squeezing spots. I’m not proud, but I am honest.
- I didn’t directly name my son after Dexter Morgan, but he may have had an influence.
But, my fabulousness does not end there, no, no….because then the one Lovely Blog Award came to me from my new favourite blogger, and she may even become your second favourite (because you-know-who is your first, right?). Her blog is Mrs D’s Maunderings and she makes me laugh. Mrs D is irreverent, cheeky and not scared to swear in front of my Nana, or share chronic fashion choices, and you all know how I feel about chronic fashion choices ;-).
Thanks for sharing the love, Mrs D. It’s entirely reciprocated!
Here are my forward pays for One Lovely Blog……blog it up, peeps. Keep up the good work. For this one I’m supposed to nominate 15 blogs and write 7 facts about myself, but who the hell has got time to even read that many blogs???
Bunny. Eats. Design.
I found Bunny. Eats. Design by chance but she has become someone I can get inspired by. She is a list maker, a great cook and fabulous graphic designer with a deep passion for her furry friend. Her food photography has inspired me to improve and she became my very first pen pal after I stalked her ’bout all things bloggy.
Sleeping Should Be Easy
I want to mention her because Mums everywhere will like this one. This gal has compiled the lessons she’s learned being a mama. It’s not preachy at all, and it’s really informative. From first his cuts to returning to work guilt, it’s written with honesty and it’s very informative. From first haircuts, to rocking your baby to sleep, and routines. I guess just another reminder that we’re all making it up as we go along and our experiences are valuable learning tools for others.
Sex, Drugs and Bacon Rolls
This pair of be sties cruise the streets of London and eat and drink and laugh and write about it. I share their passion for food, and I can pretend I still dine out when I read!
Her food photography says it all…….but she’s also funny, and prolific.
Here’s two extra facts to make up 7 in total….who says I don’t sorta play by the rules?
Boring Random Facts About Me.
- I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was 30. What the hell was I doing??? I love parking like I stole it, much to my husband’s disgust.
- I friggin’ hate vacuuming.
