Last year I spent a rather large portion of my time stressed. I’m a natural born stresser.
I stress about all sorts of stuff that never happens, but I also know that a healthy amount of stress puts a fire under my arse.
I recently told my dear friend Kirsten that I’d been approaching my desires from a place of panic and stress, and she suggested I change my mindset into something more positive. I wrote these positive affirmations regarding my finances after I saw her affirmations on her fridge.
I had nothing to lose.
I wrote these, and I believed them and I let go of fear and stress. They’re front and centre in my kitchen and I look at them, next to my chidren’s 5 million paintings regularly.
One week later my tide turned.
We’ll never know, but it’s a pretty powerful idea to approach life with positivity instead of panic. You should give it a try, regardless of what you desire.
I’ve kicked some fairly huge personal goals in this past month, and although I loved freelancing, I really, really love working at the Weekly.
I used to spend a rather large portion of my time wearing work-out gear….. I did actually workout whenever I out it on, but then I’d go about my day in sweats till I showered and threw some clothes on for school pick up.
At ballet recently, hair matted from training and butt crack of my tights slightly darkened with sweat, the beautifully made-up ballet mums were chatting about having to put on bit of makeup on before leaving the house so they feel human.
I am not that mum and haven’t been for a number of years. It’s not about letting myself go, it’s just that my clothes line and dining table desk couldn’t give a shit if I’m wearing a ballgown or a dead president mask.
I can’t tell you the pep I have now going to a place of work and putting on nice clothes and doing my make-up. My days, and requisite kid juggle, are exhausting but I’m starting each work day with a swarm of butterflies in my tummy.
Good healthy, rainbow butterflies for a change, instead of mangy stressed out moths.
I still wear workout gear the rest of the week, but a couple of days a week as a working girl on a real magazine is kinda blowing my mind. It’ll be old news soon, I’m sure…… because now I have more good stuff happening too.
Remember all those funny videos I made for Steggles?
Well, months and months ago I went to Steggles HQ armed with a copy of my book, Cook Once Feed All, and some Anzac Pepita slice and I proposed a crazy idea that we do a book together.
I like poultry, they like poultry, let’s get our poultry on in a really beautiful fashion and make a book together.
It’s taken a little while and it’s morphed from my original idea into something else very cool and we’ve got the green light.
Steggles have just signed off on an ebook deal with Keeping Up With The Holsbys, and for the next three months I’m going to be eating a whole lotta turkey –
But I’m creating, styling and shooting a whole new book!!
How flippin’ cool is that news?????!!!!
Two weeks later as my tide continued turning, I had to call Kirsten and have a word with her about my new-found positivity. I said if any more awesomely abundant shit happened in my life I would positively freakin’ explode.
Timing is a funny old thing…. I’m about to be busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest, but it feels like after three years of working my chops off, and then hitting rock bottom, things are looking up for this little black duck.
